Application Usage Report

This report is generated by counting all running instances of each executable running on all computers monitored by ControlUp, as recorded in your exported log files. Initially, when you select this report, you will see a complete list of applications, including all executable files recorded in your environment. Next, you can either select specific applications by their executable name, or select all the applications and let the Reporter display only the ones with the highest number of concurrent instances – by using the “Show X top application(s)” field.

When creating an Application Usage report from the complete list of executables, it’s generally useful to filter out the names of processes corresponding to background services and system tasks, which do not represent user activity. ControlUp Reporter does this automatically with the help of the “Filter out system processes” checkbox (enabled by default). By clicking the list button, you can edit the filter list to customize the list of processes to be omitted from the final report.
